Piers Morgan is set to return to breakfast TV and says he'll be relishing his new role and the prospect of being a 'tri-continental irritant' on a new global current affairs show.
The controversial presenter, 56, will be back on the box on News UK’s new TV channel, talkTV, which will air daily in the UK, US and Australia in the Spring.
He told the BBC : “I am launching a new global daily TV show for Rupert Murdoch ’s news corporation in America, starting in the spring.
“It will air daily in the UK, daily in the US and in Australia as well so I will be a tri-continental irritant which is something I have been aspiring to be for quite some time.
“Its going to be opinion, debate, big interviews, so if you’ve missed me on morning TV, I’m sorry but I’ll be back very soon.
“If you haven’t missed me, I’m not sorry.”
The often outspoken star left Good Morning Britain in March 2021 following the comments he made about Meghan Markle 's bombshell Oprah interview in which she discussed her mental health.
And as Piers is preparing for his return to morning telly he made a guest appearance on BBC's Sunday Morning (formerly The Andrew Marr Show ) to discuss the morning paper's.
But he couldn't resist a reference to his former GMB job when he refused to apologise after storming off air.
He told host Sophie Raworth: "I haven't been on breakfast television for nearly a year. My one question is, am I allowed to have an opinion, because that was the problem before.”
But the host directed her guest to the task at hand reminding him: "Well, you've come to tell us about the papers."
Meanwhile, his new day job will see him pen a column for Murdoch's print his new combined role of columnist for The Sun and The New York Post.
Since news of his return was announced last year, he's shared various tweets about his come back.
He told on Twitter : "I'm thrilled to be returning to News Corp which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago."
"I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged."
"I'm going home and we're going to have some fun."
