Piers Morgan calls Prince Andrew 'snivelling little coward' for out of court settlement

Piers Morgan has slammed Prince Andrew and called him a "snivelling little coward".

The TV host accused the Queen's son of ruining "what’s left of his shattered reputation".

Last night, it was announced that the 61-year-old prince and Virginia Giuffre, also known as Virginia Roberts, have settled out of court in her civil sex assault claim against him.

According to The Mirror, court documents state that the Duke of York will make a "substantial donation to Ms Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights", after the two parties "reached a settlement in principle".

And after the news broke, Piers took to his newspaper column to slam the disgraced royal for not pursuing a trial by jury in an attempt to clear his name.

He branded Andrew a "snivelling little coward" and recalled that just three weeks ago, the dad-of-two demanded a trial by jury in his sex assault case.

"The trial would surely have exposed Andrew as a liar at best, and at worst, a sexual predator," Piers writes in The Sun.

In a past statement to court, Andrew states that he "regrets his association with [Jeffery] Epstein" and "commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others."

"He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims," the statement continued.

Writing on Tuesday, Piers claimed the statement makes him want to "puke".

"The very last person any victim of evil sex trafficking needs support from is a man who hung out for years with two evil sex traffickers and who just paid vast sums of money to avoid facing a trial over his own alleged involvement and participation," the star says.

"Of course, there’s no admission of guilt about the allegations against him, which is something Andrew’s millions have protected him from having to test in court."

Ms Giuffre alleges she was trafficked by the late Epstein to have sex with the Andrew when she was 17, a minor under US law.

The royal has always strongly denied the accusations, but by settling out of court, Piers claims that we may "never know the truth now".

"And the court of public opinion has swiftly concluded that by buying off his accuser, Andrew’s shown that once again, it’s one rule for the rich and powerful, another for the rest of them," the TV presenter concludes in his scathing article.

"Make no mistake – Andrew’s now finished."

Piers also called for the royal to be stripped of his remaining titles and for all the privileges that come with being a Prince be revoked.

An attachment to the letter announcing the settlement on Tuesday gave a brief overview to the agreement between Andrew and Ms Giuffre.

However it did not disclose how much the royal would be paying to settle the case out of court.

The statement read in full: "Virginia Giuffre and Prince Andrew have reached an out of court settlement.

"The parties will file a stipulated dismissal upon Ms Giuffre's receipt of the settlement (the sum of which is not being disclosed).

"Prince Andrew intends to make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights.

"Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre's character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.

"It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years.

"Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others.

"He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims."

Prince Andrew has always denied the allegations the made against him.
