Piers Morgan brands Adele a 'pampered prima donna' and 'privileged' in scathing rant

Piers Morgan has slammed singer Adele after she had to push back her Las Vegas gigs amid an outbreak of Covid in her team which meant her show 'wasn't ready'.

The former GMB presenter branded Adele a 'privileged, pampered prima donna' in his new column and said her cancelling the shows was a 'disgrace'.

Many fans were left extremely disappointed as they had travelled from far and wide especially for the gig.

Some of her most loyal fans have questioned if the shows will now ever go ahead.

Now, Piers has taken a pop at the singer for cancelling the shows and disappointing thousands of adoring fans.

The opinionated star said Adele's fans 'believed in her because she was a working-class girl who treated them as equals'.

He went on: "But now she has morphed into just another staggeringly rich, privileged, pampered prima donna who thinks it’s fine to pull the plug on months of shows at a moment’s notice because she can’t get everything she demands.

"The show didn’t go on for Adele — last seen on British TV a few weeks ago lapping up nauseatingly sycophantic compliments from a drooling celebrity audience — because her ego is now writing cheques her fans couldn’t even dream of cashing.

"And frankly, it’s a disgrace."

Piers went on to insist that Queen singer Freddie Mercury was able to record an album while he was dying, so Adele should be able to fulfil her promise to her fans.

"If Freddie Mercury can make an album as he was literally dying, then she could probably have found the inner strength to pocket $500,000 a night to sing a few songs even if the set design wasn’t absolutely perfect," Piers insisted.

"That would have been the right thing to do for the fans she professes to love so much.

"But sadly, it would appear health-obsessed Adele’s disappeared up her rapidly diminishing celebrity backside, and no amount of weeping and wailing can change that very disappointing fact."

The residency's postponement sparked fury among many, demanding she refunds the money they had laid out given how little short notice she provided.

In her video message posted on Instagram, a teary Adele said: "I'm so sorry, but my show ain't ready.

"We've tried absolutely everything that we can to pull it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID," she said, adding that "half my team are down with" the virus.

Adele had been due to perform 24 shows at Caesars Palace Hotel starting Friday following the release of her fourth album, "30."

Caesars Palace said it understood fans' disappointment in a tweet but added: "Creating a show of this magnitude is incredibly complex. We fully support Adele and are confident the show she unveils at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will be extraordinary."
