Piddington votes to leave UK in symbolic referendum over asylum housing plan

AN OXFORDSHIRE village has voted overwhelmingly to become independent from the UK in a symbolic “referendum” in protest over plans to house more than 1000 migrants at a former military base.

The people of Piddington have voted to secede from the UK after the Government announced plans to house 1256 male asylum seekers at a nearby former military base.
