Picturesque Edinburgh trail named 'best walk in the UK' with stunning views

Arthur's Seat has been ranked as the best walk in the UK, with incredible views and a fantastic summit.

Edinburgh's most famous volcano has been praised for its location and general aesthetic after coming out top in some new research.

Conducted by Parkdean resorts, the holiday company analysed all of the best walking locations around the country, which are guaranteed to see you hit 10,000 steps while heading along them.

Using reviews from TripAdvisor and AllTrails, Edinburgh and Arthur's Seat managed to come out top for all of the following factors:

  • Number of reviews/review scores
  • Keyword mentions
  • Level of walking difficulty
  • Child friendly
  • Wheelchair and pushchair accessibility
  • Pet friendly.

In addition, Parkdean also ranked over 4.2 million TripAdvisor reviews containing keywords such as ‘beautiful’, ‘views’, ‘picturesque’ and ‘amazing’ to find the prettiest walking trail.

According to the company, Arthur's Seat managed to rack up a total of 4,521,229 TripAdvisor reviews, with over 1,000 them solely praising the location for its beauty and incredible views.

Taking an average of two hours to complete, the path covers a total of 10 kilometers and gives panoramic vistas of the city, from the castle all the way to the docks at Leith.
