Pictured: Man stabbed to death in London high street

The first picture of a man who was fatally stabbed in Wimbledon on Sunday has been released by police.

Luke Brereton, 40, from Mitcham sadly died from his injuries in south-west London on February 22, in an incident which has shocked locals.

Police officers were called to the scene on The Broadway in Wimbledon at 00:37 on Sunday morning following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, where they found a man with stab wounds.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.

His family have been notified of the sad news and is continuing to receive support from specialist officers.

A man was arrested in connection with Luke’s death later that day, which is being treated as an isolated incident.

Amar Zafar, 35, of Kingston, has since been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He is expected to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on February 23.
