The Food and Drug Administration has placed a recall of jalapeño-containing foods sold in Texas and Louisiana in Class I, its most serious recall category. The agency made the designation on Sept. 16, more than five weeks after NatureBest Precut & Produce, which operates facilities in Missouri City and Houston, announced the recall on Aug. 8.
The affected items, which include NatureBest-brand and H-E-B-brand pico de gallo, diced jalapeños, soup mix and two kinds of stuffed mushrooms, reached retail customers between July 3 and Aug. 5, according to H-E-B's recall notice. The recall covers more than half a million units, Men's Journal reported.
