A pensioner has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a motorcycle in Piccadilly Circus - shutting down the tourist hotspot.
The 81-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head injuries in the collision and has been rushed to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police is awaiting an update on the man’s condition, though he was rushed to a major trauma centre with a head injury following the crash at 11.30am.
Emergency services were forced to shut Shaftesbury Avenue and Piccadilly Circus whilst an air ambulance landed in nearby Trafalagar Square.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Shaftesbury Avenue and Piccadilly Circus are currently closed as police and London Ambulance Service attend a collision involving a pedestrian and a motorbike.
“The 81-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition.
“Please take alternative routes.”
A London Ambulance Service statement said: “We were called at 11:20am today (24 April) to reports of a road traffic collision at the Piccadilly Circus end of Shaftesbury Avenue.
“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew, a paramedic on a bicycle, a clinical team leader and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched medics from London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a man at the scene for a head injury and took him as a priority to a major trauma centre.”
