Phillip Schofield will be missing from This Morning for weeks as ITV show confirms replacement

Phillip Schofield will not return to This Morning for the weeks after being absent from his usual spot on the show alongside co-host Holly Willoughby this week.

The TV host has been missing from the daytime show since Monday and it's been confirmed he will not be returning next week after the co-hosts' usual Friday break.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who present the show on Fridays, will take over presenting duties as Holly and Phil take their scheduled Easter break.

The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett stepped into Phillip's shoes on Wednesday and Thursday.

During an ad break on Thursday, This Morning revealed Alison and Dermot will be replacing Holly and Phil for the two-week Easter break.

In the announcement, the regular Friday presenters appear in a flashback clip in the This Morning studio.

This Morning fans were thrilled to see Joel step in for Phil this week and took to Twitter to praise The Masked Singer host.

"Isn’t Joel a breath of fresh air #thismorning," another said while a third added: "I’m liking Joel Dommett on This Morning. #ThisMorning."

#ThisMorning oh how I adore @joeldommett on the show. Today the Pelvic Floor section had Joel’s eyes watering I could see & his smiling of wtf am I watching. He’s so likeable for sure. Working well with @hollywills as well. Also, @AlisonHammond worked well too," someone else shared.

Meanwhile, on Thursday's This Morning, Holly and Joel spoke to Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson about her latest novel A Most Intriguing Lady.
Prince Andrew's ex-wife told the presenters her novel is going to be adapted for screen and is set to become a TV series.

On standing by the Duke of York, the Duchess opened up: "Well, it’s Beatrice, Eugiene and I. We are a family unit. My girls stand for service, they hold and maintain very hard jobs and they are mothers and they are public figures, and they do charity work…

"They are extraordinary examples of princesses out in service, which is what their grandmother taught them and I taught them with humility. So I think the York family as a unit symbolises no judgement, kindness, and moving forward. To make people sit up and go, ‘Stop’. Stop always believing what you read. Walk forward as a unit and remain steadfast to that. Remember, I’ve been through difficult times and he’s always stood by me.”
