Phillip Schofield trumps Holly Willoughby to become This Morning's highest earner

Phillip Schofield has been revealed as ITV's This Morning 's highest earner in the year up to February 2021 - raking in almost £1 million despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The 60-year old's TV firm - Fistral Productions Ltd - is valued at £2,464,251, of which a mouth-watering £1,686,171 is cash in the bank. That figure was up a cool £990,000 on the previous year with the star reportedly paid a salary in excess of £600,000.

Co-presenter Holly Willoughby, meanwhile, saw her own enterprise Roxy Media Ltd's equity documented at £1,535,218 in the same period.

Since leaving the show, former Friday host Ruth Langsford has seen her earnings go from strength to strength with 2021 tax records suggesting her company Hey Ho Ltd earned a staggering £2,092,863.

A source told the Sun : "Ruth has had the last laugh here. She's proven the talk wrong that she and Eamonn were pale and stale. Her pay from ITV might not be as high as Holly and Phil's, but her earning power outside of the show is vast.

"She has her gig on shopping channel QVC which is huge, plus her work on Loose Women.

"Now she is free to make even more shows for other channels. Plus she is always asked to sign up for commercial work and has appeared in adverts for everything from blood circulation boosters to bingo games."

On Monday, meanwhile, Phillip revealed that he called Holly to ask her 'what is going to happen' before he came out as gay on live television.

The presenter revealed his sexuality on his social media in February 2020 with Holly also posting in support of him.

Minutes later, he and Holly made an emotional joint appearance on their day off on This Morning, surrounded by Ruth and her husband Eamonn Holmes.

It was an emotional journey for Phillip, and two years later, he's able to openly discuss his sexuality with his supportive co-workers and fans.

During Monday morning's talk show, Dame Kelly Holmes appeared to discuss coming out and said she had to make a phone call to ask someone what would happen if she came out.

"That one phone call changed everything for me," she said.

Phillip quietly turned to Holly and said: "That's the conversation I had with you... 'What's going to happen?'"

Holly responded: "Look at where you are now and look at where you are now [pointing to Phillip and Kelly]."

She continued: "It is possible and I know you just said yourself that 'I've never been happy' and I hope that you look forward to that happiness now and see it as a real tangible thing."
