Phillip Schofield says 'this is why' as he risks This Morning absence with after work activity

Phillip Schofield jokingly shared how he was risking being absent from This Morning despite just returning after a long Christmas and New Year break. The presenter returned to hosting This Morning for the first time this year earlier this week alongside sidekick Holly Willoughby.

The duo, who have hosted the show together since 2009, hadn't been seen live on the ITV daytime programme since mid-December before being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary who, after a week, were replaced by Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

However, normality resumed this week with the pair bringing viewers a series of jam-packed shows as well as the return of Spin To Win, with the popular break usually taking a break when they do.

Opening their first show of 2023, Holly, 41, cheerily declared: "We have missed you!" before adding: "There you are. Welcome to Monday's This Morning." Phillip, 60, then added: "How very lovely to see you," before sharing his fears after every substantial break from the show that he'll have forgotten how to do his job.

But the pair appear to have settled back into the groove of their live TV gig but following Tuesday's show (January 10), Phillip headed off and feared he may end up missing the next installment of This Morning.

Posting a picture of a weight machine from inside the gym to his Instagram Story, Phillip said: "Trainer on holiday so O'm doing this on my own... if I'm not on @thismorning tomorrow, you'll know I'm trapped under the fe****g bar!!"

It comes after, Phillip took to Instagram to show what he had found in his dressing room upon his return to This Morning. The TV star shared a snap showing a cactus plant that had been positioned in a certain way on top of a paper towel that had been scribbled on.

And it is clear the person responsible wanted to have a giggle as it represented a certain part of male anatomy. "@dermotoleary is this your artwork in our dressing room?" Phillip typed alongside the snap while adding a string of crying laughing emojis to show he had seen the funny side.
