Phillip Schofield has reached out to Jeremy Clarkson ahead of his suspected return to TV.
The presenter, 62, recently resurfaced on social media after a year-long hiatus, which began when he left ITV and his shows This Morning and Dancing On Ice after admitting to lying about an affair with a younger colleague.
Earlier this month he posted a comeback Instagram post, a picture of his dog Alfie watching Lando Norris’ win his first F1 Grand Prix.
Now Schofield has shared another post from a similar spot, this time sharing a video of his beloved dog watching the third season of Jeremy Clarkson’s Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm.
The 62-year-old reached out to the former Top Gear star via the clip and tagged Jeremy in the video, writing of his beloved Alfie: “Thank goodness we love watching the same shows...he’s obsessed with Clarkson’s farm!”
In a second video, the TV presenter’s dog could be seen barking at Clarkson’s pigs on TV as they run around a paddock on his Diddly Squat Farm.
Schofield hasn’t worked in the public eye since the fallout from his “unwise but not illegal” affair but his return to social media comes amid reports that he’s considering a TV comeback, encouraged by Saturday Night Takeaway star Declan Donnelly.
Pictures obtained by The Sun showed the two spending four hours together on a dinner date near their London homes recently.
Donnelly’s wife Ali Astall was also at the night out and the images have stoked rumours that Schofield could be plotting a television comeback.
Previously, sources close to Schofield revealed that he still has support from his former television colleagues, many of whom are reportedly encouraging him to return to work.
“Since he left This Morning, Phil has been held up by the support of friends like Ant, Dec and Alison Hammond,” one source told Metro.co.uk.
“They have all been rallying around him and their support, especially from Dec who is such a good friend, has really helped Phil.
“Some TV executives have been in touch with Phil about a possible return and his friends have told him he should consider it. Phil is still shell-shocked by everything that happened last year and is happy at the moment to focus on rebuilding his life with the support of his friends and family.
“Whether he will make a comeback — whether it’s on TV or radio — is still undecided but the offers are there if he wants to pursue them.”
