Phillip Schofield breaks cover as he's supported by daughter after affair bombshell

Phillip Schofield has broken cover and been photographed for the first time since his bombshell affair admission.

The This Morning presenter, 61, admitted to having an "unwise" but "not illegal" affair with a 'much younger' man, who also worked at ITV.

New photos, which are not clear, appear to show Phillip in the back of a cab alongside his daughter Ruby as he was snapped for the first time.

He sat at the back of the car behind the front passenger seat while Ruby sat next to him, showing her support for her dad despite his recent admission.

Phillip could be seen behind the front passenger seat. Meanwhile, his daughter had a concerned expression on her face as she was pictured alongside her father.

Phillip's other daughter Molly was not seen in the car. The 30-year-old appears to still be working for her dad's former agency YMU.

Ruby previously interned for ITV for a month after graduating with a 2:1 in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University. She has also completed some charity work in the past by volunteering at The Chiltern Centre, which is a charity for disabled children, and raising £15,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust by trekking Machu Pichuu.

The pair were being driven in his ITV driver who was wearing glasses, a shirt and a black jacket.

Phillip's first appearance comes days after he admitted to having an "unwise" affair with a younger ITV employee. He resigned from ITV and was dropped by his talent agent, YMU, after he admitted lying about the relationship.

He said: "I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."

Phillip, who was also slammed by Holly Willoughby, also revealed he has quit ITV altogether, which means he won't be hosting the British Soap Awards, with him now being replaced by Jane McDonald.

ITV later shared a statement to share their "disappointment" over Phil's "deceit".

An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: "We are deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit made tonight by Phillip Schofield.

"The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. Philip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.

"We accept his resignation from ITV and therefore can confirm that he will not be appearing on ITV as had previously been stated."

Later, ITV said they undertook an internal investigation into the affair – but were "lied" to.

The statement read: "Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

"Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip's then agency YMU.

"In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

"Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship."

The broadcaster has since called upon a barrister to conduct an external investigation into Phillip's statement and departure.
