This Morning's Phillip Schofield has revealed that he and Holly Willoughby were in tears before their much-anticipated return to This Morning.
Holly was overcome with emotion as she viewed a video clip of Kevin Sinfield carrying Rob Burrow over the finish line for the Leeds Marathon.
Despite their ongoing feud, the presenting duo put on a united front as they sat on the sofa alongside Gyles Brandreth and Camilla Tominey.
While discussing some of the biggest headlines from over the weekend, without mentioning their own, Phillip and Holly shared a touching story about Kevin Sinfield.
The Leeds Rhino legend carried his friend Rob Burrow over the finish line at the Leeds marathon.
Following Rob's diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019, the pair have been raising awareness and cash ever since.
While watching the moving clip, Phil said: "Oh my God, this!"
Before commentator Camilla added: "Oh this is going to make us cry."
"It does make you cry," said Holly, before Phillip explained: "We had to watch this a couple of times this morning to just get it out of our system," while Holly interrupted saying: "But it's still... Ugh."
"Kevin Sinfield carried his friend and former teammate Rob Burrow across the finish line at the Leeds Marathon," explained Phillip.
Camilla said: "It's the beauty of a friendship," before Willoughby added: "Yeah, it's the moment where he is talking in his eyes, it's just really lovely, humans are good aren't they?"
But while they were emotional over the powerful moment, tensions may have been high before the cameras started rolling following their dramatic fallout.
Holly is believed to have cut all ties with Phillip after he issued a damning statement about their friendship, insisting things "haven't been easy" for the pair.
Their return comes just one day after the Mirror revealed that Phillip and Holly would be returning to the show together following days of confusion.
Bosses are reportedly prepared to sack Phillip should his on-screen chemistry with Holly appear different for viewers and sources claim a replacement is already lined up for the position.
While Phillip is reportedly aware of the public's opinion of him, sources claim he is prepared to "tough it out" after Holly decided to cut all ties with her former best friend.
Bosses are believed to be holding key meetings in the coming days to discuss his future on the show with reports suggesting his last appearance could be in the coming weeks.
"Monday is very much D-day, but the same could apply to any day next week," a source said.
