Phillip Schofield has admitted to lying to his wife Stephanie Lowe, agent and TV viewers over an affair he had with a younger ITV employee.
The beleaguered telly host departed This Morning "with immediate effect" after 21 years on the programme and has been dropped by his talent agency, YMU, after the affair came to light. Schofield has since said the relationship was "unwise, but not illegal".
However, in a statement shared with the Daily Mail and reported by the Mirror, the 61-year-old – who came out as gay on TV in February 2020 – admitted he had kept it from everyone he knew. He has now stepped away from ITV altogether.
