The city of Philadelphia has reported being impacted by an international IT issue, although it has assured the public that its '911 and life and public safety systems remain functional.' City officials have requested that staff and employees continue to report to work to provide critical support during the outage.
Meanwhile, at Philadelphia International Airport, traveler William Sikora, who is attempting to fly back to Los Angeles today, described the situation as becoming increasingly chaotic. Sikora noted that the airport was getting uncomfortably warm as passengers waited near their gates, with flight delays on the rise.
Sikora, originally scheduled for a 6 a.m. ET Delta flight, shared that the airline has been repeatedly rescheduling departure times. The situation has led to a significant number of flight cancellations across the United States, with over 1,384 flights affected as of 9:55 a.m. ET. Philadelphia International Airport alone has experienced at least 39 cancellations, according to data from flight-tracking software FlightAware.
