KALASIN - Pheu Thai candidate Chalermkwan Lottrakul has been elected president of the Kalasin Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) by a landslide, receiving 306,674 votes, according to unofficial results.
Ms Chalermkwan, No.1 on the ballot, easily defeated her main rival, former six-term MP Prasert Boonruang, known as “Kamnan Hit”, of the Hug Phang Boeng Yaeng Kalasin group. Mr Prasert received only 68,404 votes.
Officials have completed the count at all 1,668 polling stations in the province's 18 districts.
Of 784,773 eligible voters, 401,515 (51.16%) cast ballots. There were 375,078 valid votes (93.42%), 8,557 spoiled ballots (2.13%) and 17,880 abstentions (4.45%).
