Peyton Manning Recalled Embarrassing Career Moment While Watching NFL Prospect’s Tape

While going over some tape of Kentucky quarterback Will Levis ahead of this month’s NFL draft, Peyton Manning saw some of himself in the film—or a better outcome for one part of his own game that needed fine tuning.

Levis’s accuracy has been a knock on his stock, having thrown 23 interceptions in the last two seasons. While watching the film, Manning said, “If you force one, you at least better make up for it by making a tackle.”

And sure enough, Peyton and his brother Eli watched film as Levis made the tackle on a player who picked him off, something the older Manning brother remembers trying to do himself.

“I tried that one after I threw a pick against the Chiefs,” he said. “Didn’t work out so well.”

Manning was referring to the time when Hall of Fame cornerback Ty Law intercepted him and returned it for a touchdown during a game. On the way to the end zone, Law shook off Manning’s attempt at a tackle, leaving him on the ground.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Manning said. “Don’t look for the clip.”
