The ManningCast — an alternate broadcast of Monday Night Football featuring Peyton and Eli Manning — is set to return for a third season in 2023.
In a promo for this upcoming season, Peyton and Eli released a spoof video showing “auditions” for a potential third host of the show.
Guest auditions included Dan Campbell, Kirk Cousins, Trevor Lawrence, Sean Payton, Sean McVay, Mike McDaniels Jared Goff, Mike Tyson, D.J. Khaled, Lil Wayne, Pat McAfee, Jim Irsay, Stephen A. Smith and Olivia Dunne, among others.
Peyton Manning’s exchange with Broncos coach Sean Payton was classic.
Manning: “Important question, how do you feel about audibles?”
Payton: “We generally just want the quarterback to run the play that’s called. That’s the play.”
Manning: [Visibly angry.]
Perhaps the most notable appearance in the video was that of Tom Brady. Peyton crosses Brady’s name off the list and then his former on-field rival is shown having the lights shut off him on in the waiting room.
Brady then delivers a massive teaser at the end of the video.
“No, I didn’t get the ManningCast job,” Brady says on the phone. “I guess I’ll just come back and play football again.”
In reality, Brady is set to join Fox as an NFL commentator in 2024.
Peyton and Eli are set to serve as commentators for 10 alternate broadcasts of Monday Night Football on ESPN2 this season.
