Petr Cech reveals Chelsea's 'busy' summer transfer plans amid Thomas Tuchel claim

Petr Cech has admitted that Chelsea will have a busy summer transfer window as the Blues look to bridge the gap between to Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Blues finished third in the Premier League last term, enduring a difficult end to their 2021/22 campaign that was dominated by speculation surrounding the future of former owner Roman Abramovich. Centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will also be leaving on free transfers at the end of the month, with the west Londoners expected to bring in at least one defender to freshen up their squad in the summer transfer window.

Now, technical and performance advisor Cech has spoken about the plans for the next few months, admitting that he expects Chelsea to have a busy window. “I live on the phone! It will be a busy summer. We will plan, prepare and try to be as strong as we can next season,” he told Sky Sports News, via The Metro.

“I think everybody knows where we are in terms of the team. Of course, we will try to strengthen the team.

“We want to do the best possible and be ready to compete next season. It’s going to be a tough season with a World Cup in-between so we need to be ready for that.”

Cech also took the time to heap praise on Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, who had a rollercoaster first full season in the Stamford Bridge managerial dugout. The former Czech Republic goalkeeper added: “He’s done an incredible job and last season he handled the whole situation very well.

"And managed to pull his team through. I hope he can continue like that.

“We won two major trophies and we lost two finals on penalties which was unfortunate. It’s true that we dropped points around November and December last season when we struggled with Covid.

"This is where the difference was made in my opinion.”
