Petition aiming to preserve biodiverse Kildare area launched after 'land poisoned' sign pops up

A petition aiming to preserve a biodiverse area in Kildare has garnered over 1,000 signatures after a 'land poisoned' sign popped up on the site.

The Castletown Development Action Group launched the petition on Change.org. Two developers purchased the 95 hectare landbank earlier this year, which lies adjacent to the historic Castletown House.

Signage has allegedly been erected on the site that reads 'land poisoned.' Organisers find the signage concerning as the area has been zoned for biodiversity by the OPW.

The area is home to ancient oak trees, as well as other flora and fauna. The area was bought by two family owned property developers in Kildare.

Kilross Properties had been contacted for comment. The petition has a target of 2,500 signatures.
