Tennessee Titans left guard Peter Skoronski was named the team’s nominee for the Salute to Service Award on Wednesday.
The Salute to Service Award recognizes “NFL players, coaches, staff and alumni with proven commitment to honoring and supporting military and veteran communities, as nominated by NFL clubs.”
Skoronski, who is the grandson of former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman and Air Force veteran, Bob Skoronski, is one of the 32 nominees around the league, with one from each team.
Skoronski has been quite active with the military since entering the league, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.
During the week of the draft, Skoronski partnered with USAA to participate in several activations at Whiteman Air Force Base. He rode along in an Army National Guard Black Hawk Helicopter, took a tour of several U.S. Air Force warplanes and held a meet and greet for military personnel on base to sign autographs and interact with service members and their families.
During training camp this year, Chapter 38 of the Special Forces Association was surprised by Skoronski and Academy Sports with a visit to the Titans practice facility to observe training camp. Skoronski met members of Chapter 38, and then surprised them with tickets to the Titans vs. Patriots preseason game.
The winner will be chosen during the NFL Honors show the week of the Super Bowl. Fans can place their vote right here.
