DUBLIN – Peter Queally has a trilogy bout in mind after Bellator 291.
Queally (13-7-1 MMA, 2-3 BMMA) takes on Bryce Logan (12-7 MMA, 0-4 BMMA) on Saturday’s main card at 3Arena. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.
Queally will look to snap a two-fight losing skid in which one of those setbacks came in a title-fight loss to Patricky Freire at Bellator 270. Queally had already beaten Freire before when he scored a TKO doctor’s stoppage win at Bellator 258, so with their series tied at one-a-piece, Queally would like to settle that score.
“I’d like to fight Patricky again,” Queally told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Bellator 291 media day. “I know I fought him twice. … But that’s probably the one that springs to mind. I feel like he beat me fair and square in the second one, but I feel like it was kind of a mistake that he capitalized on really expertly. So I think I’d like to fight him again and kind of settle that one. It’s 1-1, and I think I could beat him if we fought again.”
The SBG Ireland fighter’s past three fights came against former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, and back-to-back against Freire.
Logan is a much less notable name for Queally, but he understands the position he’s in.
“Of course it’s a step down,” Queally said. “My last three fights have been against three world champions. So it had to have been a step down no matter who it was gonna be. But he’s a good opponent, I’m ready for him, it’s gonna be a good fight. So, it was always gonna be a step down no matter who it was.”
