Peter Kay fans hit out after O2 Priority website crashes as they try to get comeback tour tickets

Fans of Peter Kay were left fuming after the O2 Priority website crashed soon after releasing tickets for his comeback tour.

The popular comedian is returning to the stage after 13 years and is scheduled to be at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on March 9 and 10, in 2023, as part of his tour.

However, the website for O2 Priority which was selling pre-sale tickets appeared to crash after just several minutes. Fans were unimpressed and took to social media to share their anger, reports The Mirror.

One wrote: "O2 priority website crashed and not working just as Peter Kay tickets are about to go on sale." A second added: "Peter Kay has crashed every app going as if getting tickets wouldn’t already be hard enough to get."

"Peter Kay has crashed the O2 Priority app and website and the tickets aren't even on sale yet. Love ticket stress me," tweeted a third.

O2 responded by saying: "We're seeing extraordinary demand for Peter Kay. We know customers are struggling to get on to our Priority website and app before 10am, we're working on it. Please be patient, thank you."

In a statement, a spokesperson for Virgin Media O2 told The Mirror: "We've seen unprecedented levels of visitors to our Priority platform for Peter Kay tickets. As a result, some customers are experiencing difficulties trying to use the app and website despite us putting additional resources in place to help cope with such demand. We apologise and we're doing everything we can to get it back up and running as soon as possible."

The much-loved comedian has been away from the spotlight for a number of years and recently joked that he thought he would have to be dead to make the news again. However, he recently opened up about keeping his tickets at £35, the same price as his tour in 2010 due to the ongoing cost of living crisis which is affecting millions of people. Tickets for Peter's tour go on general sale at 10.30am on November 12.
