Peter Kay fan left 'in tears' after splurging £377 on 10 tickets to wrong show

A Peter Kay fan was left in tears after splashing a whopping £377 on tickets to see the comedy icon - only to realise she'd bought briefs for the wrong show. Leah-Dionne Short, from West Yorkshire, had been waiting in a Ticketmaster queue "all morning" to snap up tickets to the Phoenix Nights star's comeback tour.

But when she eventually got through, Leah somehow made a massive blunder, and ended up paying £377 to see exhibition basketball team the Harlem Globetrotters instead, reports the Mirror.

Kay, 39, confirmed his much-anticipated return to the stage earlier this week, with fans left queueing online for an agonising amount of time to get their hands on pre-sale tickets on Thursday.

But Leah feared she would have to wait even longer to see the comic crack a joke, after things went horribly wrong at checkout.

In a post on Facebook admitting her mistake, Leah wrote: "I cannot believe I'm actually writing this, but I've been trying to get Peter Kay tickets all morning and I finally got through and the excitement got to me, and I've only gone and bought the wrong f***ing tickets for f**k sake.

"If anyone wants any tickets to see the Harlem f***ing Globetrotters then let me know, because I've got TEN of the stupid idiot tickets. £377 down and I am laughing, but crying also."

Leah's mistake sparked amusement among people online, with many puzzled as to how she got the two events confused in the first place.

One person wrote: "Oh my god. Sorry but that has made me [laugh]. How the hell did u get them confused?" while another commented: "I am absolutely crying laughing!" A third added: "Oh gosh Leah! How awful for you but so so funny!"

In an attempt to swap her tickets out for the show she actually wanted to see, Leah even fired a message to Peter Kay's official Instagram account, in the hopes that he would take pity on her and sort the situation out.

Leah wrote: "Hiya Peter, hope you're well. I've had a bit of a nightmare if I'm honest love. I tried to buy 10 tickets for your show which was proving quite difficult, and when I finally did get onto Ticketmaster I was so excited that I've accidentally bought the wrong ones.

"You won't believe it but I've ordered 10 tickets for the Harlem bloody Globetrotters. Pete, I've never watched a single game of basketball in my life! What's more messed up is I've ended up spending £370 for the privilege!

"Is there any way you can help me with this at all? Couple of VIPs for my dedication to the garlic bread and cheesecake gags?"

Leah has since explained that the mix up occurred when she tried to access the pre-sale being held by her phone provider, Three.

She didn't know that not all options on the website were related to Peter Kay's tour, so when she found the venue she wanted to attend, she quickly booked tickets - with the penny not dropping that it was a completely different event.

She continued: "I'm with 3 network and was trying to get the pre-sale through there for two hours. I finally got on and got my code for Peter Kay pre-sale, and when it took me through to the Ticketmaster website I was so stressed about making sure I got the tickets that I didn't realise that not all the dates and shows listed were for Peter Kay, some were for other events.

"So I just clicked one, selected 10 tickets and paid. It wasn't until after that I realised that 'Harlem Globe Trotters' isn't the name of the stadium the event is at!"

Thankfully, Leah's boyfriend managed to secure some tickets during another pre-sale, so she'll still be able to see Peter Kay in action despite her hilarious mishap.
