Peter Haring will discover if he’s available for Hearts third-place crunch against Aberdeen on Wednesday when an independent panel hear the Jambos’ appeal over his red card against St Mirren.
The Austrian was sent off by referee David Dickinson for a sliding challenge on the Buddies’ Mark O’Hara on the half-way line in Paisley with VAR agreeing with the decision. Should the Jambos lose the appeal then the 29-year-old will be banned for Saturday’s clash with the Dons at Tynecastle with guaranteed group stage football in Europe on the line. Haring was deemed to have committed serous foul play by Dickinson but Hearts challenged the decision on Monday - claiming the 6ft 1in midfielder was the victim of wrongful dismissal.
Speaking after Saturday’s draw in Paisley, Hearts boss Steven Naismith said: “The red card, VAR is involved in that as well, but I personally disagreed with it. I thought it was a foul to stop the game from a counter-attack.
"It was right in front of me. I didn't think it was aggressive or even the speed I don't think is excessive.”
Hearts decided against appealing Alex Cochrane's red against Celtic last week - with Naismith admitting he was spooked by the extra game slapped on Dons midfielder Graeme Shinnie last month.
But they feel they have a solid case with Haring who has been a mainstay for Naismith since returning from a lengthy spell out with concussion.
