Peter Grant in Rangers ‘told you so’ over Alfredo Morelos as Celtic hero brutally explains why Ibrox exit won't happen

Defiant Peter Grant insists he has been proven right over Alfredo Morelos after Gio van Bronckhorst dropped the striker for the striker for the crucial clash with PSV Eindhoven.

The Ibrox boss left the Colombian out of the squad jetting out of Glasgow for the Champions League playoff round second leg clash in Eindhoven. The Dutchman state has concerns over Morelos' fitness and attitude and doesn't believe he's ready to take part against Ruud van Nistelrooy's men, with the red card against Hibs during the 2-2 unlikely to have helped Morelos' case.

Former Celtic star Grant doesn't believe the problems will stop with Morelos missing the European decider, as he insisted the Ibrox talisman isn't good enough to play in a top five European league. Grant has previously claimed the Ibrox talisman was a "liability" and urged Rangers to cash in while they can, and has taken aim at the fitness of the frontman amid the impressive form of Antonio Colak.

He was asked about his previous comments on Morelos and his take on being left in Glasgow. He told The Go Radio Football Show: “It’s not a surprise but it’s one time that I don’t like to be correct.

"Being a professional footballer is the best job in the world. It’s a massive football club, (and) he has had ample opportunities.

"It’s time and time again that he’s let them down on the football pitch, now he seems to have let them down off the pitch by not being the greatest professional. Every time you read about him going away to Spain or wherever, but I told you he wasn’t that good, and I think his agents have been trying to sell him for a long, long time.

"The biggest thing for me is he has to take responsibility. It’s a nightmare for his teammates and his manager because the manager gets criticism for not putting him on last week (against PSV) - the manager is working with him every day and we don’t see that.

"I’ve been there myself in certain situations, you don’t like criticising any player, especially your own, and I’m sure Gio has been the exact same. I’m really disappointed for Rangers because they will probably need him against PSV and he’s not available.”
