Peter Crouch makes Harry Kane transfer prediction as Ange Postecoglou told Chelsea incentive

Peter Crouch believes that Harry Kane will leave Tottenham, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid mooted as potential destinations this summer. The 29-year-old striker faces an increasingly uncertain future in north London with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Prior to the departure of Fabio Paratici in April, football.london understood that the Italian had been in contact with the England international's team to discuss an extension. It's said that Kane is open to discussing a new deal but, as it stands, he's yet to commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites.

After Spurs failed to clinch a Champions League qualification spot, he's set to become one of the most coveted strikers in Europe this summer. While Ange Postecoglou is expected to bring exciting football to north London next season, Crouch has predicted Kane to seek a new challenge.

"Ange Postecoglou is a decent appointment for Spurs," said the former Liverpool and Tottenham striker in an interview with Paddy Power. "A lot of Tottenham fans have been a bit underwhelmed by it, but I watched Celtic last year, and they will get exciting football at least with the new manager.

"They are miles short of where they want to be though. It wouldn’t matter what manager you bring in – that squad needs improving and has done for a while, so I’m not sure the expectations this season should be very high, unfortunately.

"What they will get is a bit more attacking football with Postecoglou in charge. Tottenham should always be aiming be aiming for Europe, but if they lose Harry Kane and don’t replace him correctly then they are going to have another tough season.

"And I can’t see him staying. I mean, he scored 30 goals last year in a really struggling side. If Real Madrid or Manchester United come along it’ll be difficult to say no.

"Think about Luka Modric when he went to Madrid. He was turning 27 that September and he’s won 22 trophies since. Harry Kane’s just a bit older but still has plenty of time to win things there.

"The Premier League goalscoring record might be in his mind too, so Man United might appeal to him more, but there’s a big rebuilding project at Spurs needed, so he might think this is his time to go."

Rio Ferdinand believes so too. When asked which club the Englishman should join, the former Manchester United defender also overlooked Chelsea as a potential destination.

"Man United – if he wants to break the Premier League record as well which I think is in his mind and in his sights," said Ferdinand on BT Sport. "He’s a fabulous player and whatever he does he’s a guy whose career is going to absolutely be celebrated because of what he’s achieved.

"He’s been a phenomenal servant to this club and the game of football, the way he conducts himself and carries himself. He’s an absolute icon of the game in this country."
