Peter Andre has ‘no ill feelings’ towards Rebekah Vardy after chipolata comment: ‘We all say stupid things’

Peter Andre has said he holds no “ill feelings” towards Rebekah Vardy after she publicly compared the size of his manhood to that of a chipolata sausage.

The crass comment was referenced during Vardy’s infamous ‘Wagatha Christie’ High Court battle last year against Coleen Rooney.

David Sherborne, Rooney’s lawyer, read out excerpts of her 2004 double page spread in the News of the World in which she revealed intimate details of sex with Andre and made a cruel jibe about his manhood, in a bid to highlight her relationship with the press.

Despite having the relive the remark, the 50-year-old insisted that he doesn’t hold a grudge because “people say stupid things” but is frustrated that the jibe kept getting brought up.

Speaking on the Off Air podcast, he said: “I don’t hold any ill feeling and I’ll tell you why. At the time it wasn’t very nice, that wasn’t the problem – people say stupid things, we all do.

“I’ve said many stupid things in my life that if I could go back, I would clip myself around the head. Even the old reality shows when I would talk in a way that I would never talk now.

“That wasn’t the problem, the problem for me was that it was brought up again, and again and again.

“For me the ill feeling isn’t with [Rebekah]. Something stupid was said, so what? We’ve all said stupid things. I’ve always been a glass half full kind of guy.”

The Mysterious Girl hitmaker previously said he wasn’t “holding on to any bitterness” toward Vardy for making the comment.

He previously told Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: “I don’t have ill feelings towards anybody because I’m not perfect.

“I’ve made mistakes. I don’t dislike anybody, but I do dislike things being brought up all the time.

“The reason I don’t talk about this is because it’s gone on for years and there’s nothing more to say. But I’m not holding on to any bitterness.”

During the court case, Vardy accepted the article was “not nice” and “absolutely” disrespectful to Andre but insisted she had not wanted to take part in the interview when questioned.

“I was forced into a situation by my ex-husband to do this story, it’s something I deeply regret, and something that’s very much part of my past,” she said at the time.

“It’s not nice to read, I’ve dealt with this, I understand why this is being used. To me, this is mudslinging, I was always threatened with mudslinging by Mrs Rooney’s team. I went through a terrible relationship, it was horrible and abusive, and I was forced into a situation.”
