US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is narrowing the pool of servicemembers invited to his upcoming Pentagon speech, with candidates expected to pass physical fitness requirements, meet waist-to-height standards, and maintain what the selection guidance calls 'impeccable' grooming and uniform standards.
The 30 September 'State of the Force' address will include lower-ranking officers and enlisted servicemembers, with selected attendees also given the opportunity to work out with Hegseth. Emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show commanders have been asked to nominate troops who meet physical, professional, and leadership criteria.
