Pete Carroll never doubted Seahawks would sign All-Pro LB Bobby Wagner

The Seattle Seahawks secured a familiar face on Saturday, signing All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner back to the roster after his one year in Los Angeles with the Rams.

Coach Pete Carroll seemed thrilled to discuss the deal on Tuesday from the league meetings in Arizona.

“It’s such a win-win for everybody,” Carroll told reporters. “Because Bobby wasn’t here for a year, it doesn’t have anything to do with our relationship, except for he played a great game against us down there, and it was good to get him back on our side. Over the years that we spent together, there’s a real relationship that’s a life-long relationship. Not just with me, but with people around the organization, with the people in the area, the fans.”

The Seahawks locked Wagner up for this season on a $7 million deal which makes perfect sense for both parties.

“He lives in Seattle, his family’s there, he raised his kids there,” Carroll continued. It was just a logical thing for us to work out. So in Bobby’s mind and my mind and in John (Schneider’s), we just had to get through it. It just took some time to get it done.

“But there was really never any thought that we weren’t going to get it done in my mind.”
