A woman said her pet cat is so big that people often mistake him for a big cat - and he will get even bigger.
Chastity Hobbs, 26, adopted Maine Coon Kusa in July 2022 when he was just three months old.
The cat, who is now nine months old, is a meter long - the height of an average five-year-old child standing up.
The pet owner, who is a commercial photographer, said people are amazed when they see the cat and think he is "crossed with a bobcat".
She said: "The last time we weighed him he was 15 pounds, but he’s definitely grown four of five pounds. He’s had a massive growth spurt since then."
Maine Coons continue to grow until they are four or five years old, meaning nine-month-old Kusa will get much bigger.
Chastity, who lives with Kusa and three other cats in her home in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, spends almost $170 (£138) worth of food every month.
She even has an extra-large litter tray to accommodate Kusa.
Chastity added: "[We need] mostly just an extra large litter box. Maine coons are very playful so they need a lot of enrichment.
"I think we will need to upsize, we have a cat wall and I’m worried it’s going to come off the wall when he’s bigger.
"They [Maine Coons] are known as the gentle giants of the cat world.
"We have three other cats and Kusa is at the bottom of the cat hierarchy, he’s just too nice. He’s a very needy cat, he loves getting attention.
"Living with Kusa has been whimsical almost. He’s been wonderful to live with."
Another cat owner who bought a Maine Coon said people often mistake him for a dog as he is very big.
Yulia Minina, who lives in the small town of Stary Oskol, adopted gorgeous cat Kefir almost two years ago as a tiny kitten.
The cat weighs 12.5kg (two stone) and is likely to become even heavier.
Yulia said: "I could not even think that an ordinary baby can become so big.
"He not only grew up big in appearance, he is also very smart and always behaves calmly.
"The look is generally like that of a person, and Kefir has a formidable appearance, but he is a very affectionate and modest child.
"When friends and acquaintances come to the house - all the attention is on him and he willingly allows himself to be stroked."
However, when strangers who have never seen Kefir before come to the house, they're confused by the regal creature greeting them at the door.
''But when strangers come to the house, everyone first confuses him with a dog," Yulia said.
“He has one more habit: at night he likes to climb on me and sleep. When he was a kitten, it didn’t cause me any inconvenience.
''But now he has become big and heavy, and, of course, it is difficult to sleep like that."
