Vladimir Gusev's Journey:
Perulla is an innovative boat company founded by Vladimir Gusev. Originally from Podolsk, Russia, Vladimir's passion for crafting and building began in childhood. He spent his early years constructing ramps and participating in various projects with his father, developing his skills and love for construction. However, it was a project with his grandmother that truly ignited his fascination with boats. This experience set the course for his future endeavors, leading him to apply his creativity and expertise to boat construction. Today, Perulla stands as a reflection of Vladimir's lifelong dedication and innovative spirit in the boating industry.
Exploring Boundless Creativity:
This innovative project set the stage for Vladimir's future undertakings. His exploration with boats led him from Podolsk to Miami. It signified not just a geographical shift but also marked the start of a fresh era in his creativity. In Miami, he initiated an experimental enterprise where each stage of building is a real boating innovation.
In 2021, Vladimir approached his partner with a groundbreaking idea: to build a boat from polyethylene. Despite skepticism from others, they forged ahead, determined to defy expectations and revolutionize the industry. The result was truly remarkable - their collaboration produced the world's inaugural polyethylene boat for wakesurfing. The initial testing in Moscow validated their efforts, as the boat surpassed expectations, demonstrating both its durability and performance. It successfully passed the ice testing, proving its reliability.
Polyethylene Revolution:
Initially, the dilemma was to make polyethylene boats not only reliable but also aesthetically pleasing by addressing the warping of parts during seam welding. Vladimir Gusev successfully developed and patented a new welding standard for joining the side and frame of polyethylene boats, utilizing a T-joint and double-sided welding with an extruder. This innovation eliminated the warping effect and increased structural strength. In addition, Gusev developed a technology for painting polyethylene, rigorously tested it, and confirmed its effectiveness. While many still believe that painting polyethylene is unfeasible, insisting that the paint won’t adhere, Gusev’s results prove otherwise. Polyethylene can indeed be used to create not only a reliable but also an attractive, even luxurious, vessel. Consequently, this achievement was recognized with a prestigious National Business Award in 2023.
Innovation Philosophy:
At the core of Perulla's philosophy is a dedication to innovation. Setting itself apart as a startup leveraging cutting-edge technologies in boat construction, the company prioritizes the use of polyethylene—a material renowned for its adaptability and eco-friendly characteristics.
Polyethylene offers several advantages over traditional materials like fiberglass. Its ease of production allows for intricate designs, making it ideal for crafting the complex shapes characteristic of boats. Moreover, its water neutrality ensures that Perulla boats maintain their integrity even after prolonged exposure to water.
Environmental consciousness is a fundamental aspect of Perulla's philosophy. Polyethylene's eco-friendly properties align with the company's commitment to sustainability, as it does not release harmful substances into the water.
Global Ambitions:
As Perulla's second boat approaches completion, the company's vision reaches far beyond domestic boundaries. Perulla's vision is to enter the global market, offering a luxury product while maintaining affordability and quality. This boat aims to be accessible to a broader audience, with greater durability and resilience compared to its counterparts.
