Perthshire skier Charlie Guest selected to represent Great Britain at Winter Olympics

Perthshire ski star Charlie Guest has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Guest, from St Martins, was named in the alpine team alongside fellow GB Snowsport athletes Billy Major, Dave Ryding and Alex Tilley.

This will be the 28-year-old’s second appearance at the Games having previously taken to the slopes at Pyeongchang 2018.

The former Strathallan student has enjoyed a terrific season so far, consistently performing on the World Cup stage.

She finished in 13th position on the renowned Austrian slopes of Schladming a couple of weeks back.

A smiling Guest was pictured at the bottom of the slope with her dedicated team in the aftermath of the success.

Earlier in the month, Guest clinched top-20 finishes in Zagreb, Croatia and Kranjska Gora, in Slovenia.

Now excitement will build ahead of another trip to the famous winter showpiece, which takes place from February 4-20.

GB Snowsport head coach, Pat Sharples, said: “I’m so proud of every single athlete who’s been selected for the Olympic Winter Games squad today.

“Behind every name on this list is a huge amount of hard work, determination, and commitment, and every single squad member really deserves their place.

“It’s true, though, that the hard work is only just beginning. The next few weeks are going to be a huge challenge, but we back every athlete on this squad to do themselves and their country proud in Beijing.”

Three Perthshire athletes are currently set to compete in Beijing. Alongside Guest, curlers Eve Muirhead and Mili Smith will also be going for medal glory.
