Perth Sheriff Court told of alleged hammer attack said to have left a man unable to walk

Police were said in court last week to be investigating an alleged assault on a man due to be sentenced for breaching the terms of a non-harassment order.

Solicitor Linda Clark told Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday this week Graham Arthur Lynch would not be attending for sentencing as the attack had left him unable to walk.

“On July 12 he was the subject of a fairly serious assault,” Ms Clark told the court.

She said Lynch’s assailant had taken a hammer to his Achilles tendon and he was later found “semi-conscious and crawling about”.

“Police are making enquiries,” she said, adding: “He cannot walk.”

Sheriff Francis Gill said under the circumstances he would defer sentencing Lynch, of St Catherine’s Square, Perth, for the breach of the non-harassment order until August 24.

The 41-year-old breached the order by repeatedly contacting his ex-partner between December 8, 2021 and June 23, 2022 and also sending her a text message sometime between January 1 and January 31, 2022.
