Person taken to hospital after crash in Winterbourne

One person has been taken to hospital following a crash on Badminton Road, in Winterbourne. The collision between two vehicles resulted in the road being closed for a time and a heavy build up on congestion.

Avon and Somerset Police attended the crash site, alongside Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the ambulance service. One person, a passenger, was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while neither of the drivers of the cars reportedly received any injuries in the crash.

Badminton Road was closed in both direction following the collision at the junction with Down Road. The road has since been reported open, though a spokesperson from the police force said it was only partially reopened, and there remains no access in or our of Down Road at the junction.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called just after 5pm on Wednesday 23 November to a two-car collision at the junction of the A342 Badminton Road with Down Road. A silver Skoda Octavia travelling towards the Willy Wicket roundabout was in collision with a blue Ford Focus travelling towards Coalpit Heath.

"Fire and ambulance crews also attended and the road was closed. As of 7pm Badminton Road was partially reopened with traffic being managed by officers. There is no access into or out of Down Road at the junction, pending an examination of the scene and recovery of the vehicles.

"A passenger from the Focus went to hospital by ambulance with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Neither driver was injured. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage showing either vehicle in the moments beforehand.
