Person struck by train on Glasgow rail service between Bowling and Kilpatrick

A person is reported to have been struck by a train this morning between Bowling and Kilpatrick.

ScotRail took to Twitter to alert rail users of the tragic news around 11:15am, noting that they are currently working with the emergency services at the scene.

An update published on their website reads: "Because of a person being hit by a train between Dumbarton Central and Dalmuir all lines are blocked. Disruption is expected to last until around 13:00 today."

They are advising that services between Balloch and Airdrie, and between Edinburgh and Helensburgh Central via Airdrie may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected to last until 1:30pm this afternoon.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman: "Officers were called to the line near Kilpatrick at 10.56am today (25 March) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a man has been taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
