A person has been struck by a train on the line between Ardrossan South Beach and Kilwinning, cancelling a number of rail services in Ayrshire.
The incident is understood to have occurred at Saltcoats train station. The fire service confirmed that crews were at the scene to deal with an incident.
Police and ambulance services also attended, along with an air ambulance.
ScotRail announced around 6.25pm that trains had been cancelled between Kilwinning, Ardrossan and Largs as a result.
A post read: "Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between Ardrossan South Beach and Kilwinning.
"No trains are running between Kilwinning, Ardrossan and Largs while the emergency services attend."
The condition of the person who was struck is unknown at this time. The British Transport Police have been approached for comment.
