Person storms out of Leeds theatre's production of Rent as they 'didn't realise show was about gays'

A company has slammed an “ignorant” audience member who stormed out of Jonathan Larson’s RENT at a Leeds theatre because they “didn’t realise it was about gays.”

Bite My Thumb, a community arts group, issued a statement following the incident on March 12 at Leeds' Carriagework Theatre in Millenium Square.

The person told a member of the front of house team as they leaving during the performance of ‘Today 4 U, Tomorrow 4 Me’ that they didn’t realise the show was for gay people - leaving the cast, creatives and backstage crew “utterly disgusted.”
