A person has died after being hit by a train at a Lanarkshire yesterday.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene at Cambuslang station after the alarm was raised at around 10.50am on Friday, May 27.
Police and ambulance crews are currently in attendance, following the tragic incident on the Glasgow Central to Motherwell line.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a report for the coroner.
As a result of the incident, ScotRail services between Glasgow Central and Lanark and Dalmuir and Motherwell/Cumbernauld were disrupted.
National Rail raised the alarm on their website and social media spokesperson added: "If you’ve been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."
A spokesperson for the force said: "British Transport Police were called to Cambuslang station at 10.49am today (May 27) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
