WA Police are investigating the death of a man who crashed his motorbike after failing to stop for police in the state's Pilbara.
Police say they had attempted to stop the man who was riding a motorcycle prior to the crash, which occurred in Karratha in the early hours of this morning.
Authorities say they were then alerted to the crash site by a member of the public and officers administered emergency first aid at the scene.
Major Crash detectives will now review the circumstances surrounding the crash, with oversight from WA Police's Internal Affairs Unit.
De Witt Road near the intersection of Mooligunn Road in the Karratha Light Industrial Area remains closed.
The incident comes after the WA Police Union last month urged officers not to engage in car chases until policies surrounding police pursuits were reviewed.
