In a statement, Avon Fire and Rescue said: "On arrival, crews found a fire affecting a two-storey semi-detached property. With four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, crews used two hose reels, one 45mm covering jet and one 45mm safety jet to extinguish the fire.
"Crews also used a positive pressure attack. One casualty was conveyed to hospital by a neighbour."
Avon Fire and Rescue said in an update on Twitter at 12.05pm that the crews had extinguished the blaze. It did not reveal the extent of the damage the fire caused to the property.
Firefighters determined the cause of the incident as an accidental ignition caused by the overloading of sockets and daisy-chaining of extension cables.
