The San Francisco 49ers were quick to congratulate Leeds United on their 3-0 over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers, who have a 44% stake in Leeds, tweeted Jesse Marsch's side after the final whistle at Elland Road.
The Whites thrashed Chelsea to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Goals from Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison handed Leeds a rare win against the Blues - their first in 20 years.
The 49ers tweeted : "A perfect weekend of football. Well done @LUFC! #MOT."
It really was a perfect weekend, with the 49ers beating the Minnesota Vikings 17-7 from 7-6 down earlier on Sunday. They then posted another Leeds-related tweet a few hours later.

It read: "How’d he do on the spike, @gkittle46 (George Kittle)?!", with a video of Jesse Marsch slamming his water bottle on the floor in celebration after Harrison made it 3-0, comparing the manoeuvre to the Niners' star tight end's trademark touchdown celebration.
The 49ers upped their stake in Leeds from 37% to 44% last November, which was the second time they increased their stake in 2021. At a valuation of $5.1 billion, the 49ers were named as the fifth most valuable franchise in the NFL recently. They have an option to purchase a majority stake in the Whites in 2024.
