Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has described Napoli ace Victor Osimhen as the "perfect centre-forward" amid the Reds' interest in his signature.
The Nigeria international, 24, scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season on Wednesday night, helping Napoli record a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. That meant they sealed a 5-0 aggregate triumph and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition for the very first time.
Osimhen, who has admitted that he is currently in the dark over his future, has cemented himself as one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe this season, producing a series of eye-catching performances. United, who plan to recruit a world-class striker ahead of next season, identified the former Lille man as a target back in November.

Although United manager Erik ten Hag, as revealed by the Manchester Evening News last week, has identified Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane as his preferred choice to strengthen his pool of attacking options this forthcoming summer, Osimhen is attracting a wave of attention. He caught the eye of former Reds ace Hargreaves after his two-goal haul against Frankfurt and the latter could not resist waxing lyrical about his credentials.
Hargreaves, speaking to BT Sport, said: "They [Napoli] attack in numbers. [Matteo] Politano with a great first touch, (Giovanni) Di Lorenzo there, Osimhen there. They just overload you, he's always there, Osimhen.
"He's a great athlete, runs the channels, he's got size. He's literally a perfect centre-forward, no wonder everybody is chasing him."
Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in July 2020, is the leading goalscorer in Serie A this season, netting 19 goals. He has scored a total of 51 goals in 90 appearances for the Italian heavyweights, 41 of which have come since the start of last season.
