Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 has just arrived on Disney+ but if you're anything like me, you're already excited to see what's coming up next.

The adaptation of Rick Riordan's young adult book series has been renewed for a third installment already. While season 2 dives into the The Sea of Monsters, season 3 will move onto The Titan's Curse. We don't have a confirmed release date for the next season, but there's plenty to look forward to.

I recently spoke to Riordan about Disney+'s Percy Jackson series, and he teased that big things are coming up.

When asked about the status of season 3, Riordan told me: "We're well underway, and if, fans know the book, The Titan's Curse, they will be quite, quite happy, I think.

"The characters that we're introducing here, especially fan favorites Nico and Bianca D'Angelo, we get to meet them in real life, and the cast is incredible."

One addition we should especially look forward to is Atlas, a major character from the third book. Riordan told me that he's excited for his scenes and that there's a great actor on board to play him.

He said: "Some of the scenes I'm especially looking forward to, the Hoover Dam is a very important scene, and that's amazing. Atlas too, holding up the sky. I can't tell you who Atlas is, but it's pretty amazing casting."

For now, though, we've got plenty to enjoy with Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. Episodes release weekly until the season finale on January 21, and Riordan admitted he was impressed by the amount of work that went into this season.

Water is a big focus in season 2, and fans will get to see some huge moments involving large-scale ships

He said: "The amount of work is, it's just beyond me how, how they're able to adapt all of these scenes. I think any time you're, you're dealing with water. It's tough, and there are so many water scenes, including a major one on the Ironclad ship.

"The Ironclad ship that has to sail through the storm, that was particularly challenging. Not for me, I didn't have to do the work, but they had to create this full-scale ship and figure out how to make it look like it's on the ocean, waves crashing over the side, unbelievable stunt work that they did for that."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been a huge success for Disney+ with a strong 95% Rotten Tomatoes score. Many people consider it to be a faithful adaptation, and I'm excited to see what comes next.
