Pep Lijnders' new book, Intensity, is on sale now as Jurgen Klopp's right hand man lifts the lid on Liverpool's fight for multiple trophies, transfer strategy and youth focus at Anfield.
Liverpool's assistant manager has revealed all in his new book, which is on sale on the official Liverpool FC website now. The book is priced at £20. The book is also available on Amazon where it has already clocked up a number of five star reviews.
The book goes behind the scenes at Anfield during the 2021/22 season when Liverpool challenged for every trophy. He lifts the lid on the club's transfer policy, the winning mentality and the pre season preparation that led to success on the pitch.
Manager Jurgen Klopp says: "Pep is unique. I’ve never met anyone like him before and I’m not sure I’ll be fortunate enough to do so again in the future. He is studious and coaching-obsessed; he believes in the training process with a passion I’ve never seen before. It was his obsession with chronicling everything we do that led to this project happening. This diary, this book, our story of 2021/22."
In an interview to mark the release of his brand new book, Intensity, Klopp's right-hand man said: "When we want to sign someone, we sign them for the first 11. That doesn’t mean we only have 11 players. It means that you want players who you feel can play and make a difference in the big games.
"The question always lies in are you fighting to become a champion? Or are you fighting for the top four? Are you fighting for the Champions League? Or are you fighting for the League Cup? That is a big, big difference and people underestimate it.
"So in this way, the team needs consistency that we have created over the last year. What I want to get to is the signings that you make, you have to have this immediate impact basically. That is not easy, that means there is a lot of work. That is why we are so happy with our scouting department and our sporting director. We really tried to sign the players who can make the difference."
