Pep Guardiola sends 'congratulations' message to Liverpool after Man City win title

Pep Guardiola has sent a message of ‘congratulations’ to Liverpool after Manchester City won the Premier League title.

The Reds claimed a 3-1 win over Wolves on Sunday. Despite Pedro Neto scoring early on for the visitors at Anfield, goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson secured the victory.

However, it was not enough to leapfrog City after they came from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium and win the league.

LFC RATINGS: Alisson excellent and Thiago immense against Wolves

REACTION: What happened inside Anfield in 90th minute speaks volumes

Liverpool went into the day one point behind Man City, and finished the campaign with the same points difference and with 92 points to their name.

After the final whistle, Jurgen Klopp, the players and their families performed a lap of honour around the Anfield pitch, with a Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris to come next week.

Over at the Etihad Stadium, there were celebrations from the Man City players, staff and fans. While on the pitch, Guardiola was interviewed about the achievement and sent a message to Liverpool.

“Our rival, I have never seen a team like Liverpool in my life,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“I know it’s tough, but big congratulations. They helped us to be a better team, season by season.”
