Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he won’t use the Premier League’s television scheduling as an excuse ahead of his side’s trip to Elland Road. It’s a huge clash at both ends of the table with Manchester City chasing yet another title and Leeds United desperate to stay in the top flight.
Despite the ridiculous strength in depth available to Guardiola, they come into the clash in West Yorkshire on the back of their intense 4-3 Champions League win against Real Madrid. They travel to Leeds without Kyle Walker and John Stones among their defensive options and that could well be something Jesse Marsch has planned to exploit.
As Jurgen Klopp continues to slam the scheduling in the Premier League, his counterpart at the Etihad is aware that moaning won’t help his cause. Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: "Nothing is going to change. It's not going to change because the broadcasters are thinking about what they have to do to get more viewers. It's not about what the players need or what the teams need.
