Pep Guardiola gives glowing review of Ange Postecoglou as Man City boss repeats Tottenham dream

Manchester City boss has given a glowing review of newly appointed Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou, claiming he is an "exceptional manager". The 57-year-old was announced as the new manager of Spurs on Tuesday morning after reaching a full agreement on his contract.

Postecoglou won't begin working in full capacity until July 1 though, with his contract at Celtic expiring at the end of this month. The Australian coach will be tasked with heading the new project for the Lilywhites, with plenty of change expected at the club in the playing squad and off the field too.

At Celtic, the experienced coach managed to earn a treble this season, putting a fitting end to the chapter of work he started with the Scottish giants. In a statement published by Tottenham, chairman Daniel Levy outlined the reasons for his appointment, with plenty to excite the fans.

He said in the club statement: "Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead."

With a four-year deal being handed to Postecoglou, it's a sign of the transition and long-term process the club will now have to undergo to compete at the very top again. While the coach may be an unknown entity to a few in the Premier League, Guardiola met up with him during his time as Yokohama F.Marinos head coach, due to their ties with City in the City Football Group.

In his pre-Champions League final press conference, the Spaniard was asked on Tottenham's new manager, to which he responded: "Another exceptional manager is coming. I was lucky to have met him in Tokyo years ago when he was manager of Yokohama, one of our clubs in the City Football Group, and was an interesting chat, and have a good relation, done well for Celtic in Glasgow, made an incredible job.

"And he will do an incredible job for Spurs, hopefully we can score one goal away." The final bit referenced his previous claim that he's looking to beat Tottenham away next season, having failed to do so since the change in stadium.

However, the overall theme suggests there's a positivity in the appointment and one that Spurs fans can get behind for the future.
