Pep Guardiola dodges Man City future question after FA Cup final win

Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn on his Manchester City future after winning the FA Cup.

The Spaniard clinched his 20th trophy in England with a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Antoine Semenyo struck the winner in the 72nd-minute from Erling Haaland’s cutback.

It leaves City with two trophies this term after they won the Carabao Cup, beating Arsenal 2-0 earlier this year.

They will turn their attentions back to the Premier League title race as they seek to hunt down the Gunners, in pursuit of a domestic treble.

There have been numerous questions about Guardiola’s future in recent years, with speculation growing as to when the former Barcelona boss might finally depart the Etihad Stadium after 10 years in charge.

He was asked once more by Laura Woods on TNT Sports whether this would be his final term at the helm, but he jokingly brushed off the question.

“What rumours?” he replied. “Have a lovely evening.”

City have two games left to play this season, both coming in the league.

They are two points adrift of Mikel Arteta’s league leaders, who face Burnley, where they can extend the gap at the top to five points.

City then travel to Europe-chasing Bournemouth on Tuesday before they host Aston Villa, who cemented their place in the Champions League with a 4-2 win over Liverpool on Friday, on the final day.

Guardiola’s men know that they must win both of their remaining matches, as well as needing a result to go against Arsenal.

The Gunners traverse the capital to face Crystal Palace on the last day.
